March Meet the Maker

Me, Myself and I

The Dream Team (My Family)

Previous Projects
Hi everyone, I thought I would jump on the bandwagon of #marchmeetthemaker and take this opportunity to properly introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me, especially to those who don’t know me and are new to my page.

Hi - my name (other than The Flower Fairy) is Sophie. From a young age I would make floral centrepieces, especially at Christmas, under the guidance of an ‘auntie’ (who is a very talented local flower arranger).
Although spending 12 years in various Marketing & Events Management roles, across several industries both here and in New Zealand, I have always had a love of flowers, flower arranging and gardening.

In 2017 I decided to take the plunge and leave my marketing role to study at The Cambridge Flower School. And I loved it! I started slowly at first, doing the flowers for a few parties and events, which was mainly because we welcomed our daughter Lucy into the world that year. Since Lucy started school last September, I have been able to take on a lot more work and have since done two (very differently styled) balls, a wedding, funeral flowers, hosted and tutored workshops, attended craft fairs and done many orders for table centrepieces, arrangements and bouquets.

I’ve included a few pictures (above)– the first one is of me in my studio. These are the best of a bad bunch. Not due to the amazing photographer - because I’m the least photogenic person I know!

The second picture is a collage of me and my family. If you ever come to my studio you will meet my completely unhelpful but totally morale boosting 2IC – Charlie Brown – the most gorgeous and chilled out Chocolate Labrador you will ever meet.

And the third picture is a collage of just some of the work I’ve done since September.

Anyway, if you’ve read this far; congratulations you now deserve a cup of tea and a biscuit. Thank you for reading and if I haven’t met you yet I look forward to meeting you soon!

Fun fact – After University, where I studied Communications, I went down to London to do something completely different and learnt cookery at Leith’s School of Food and Wine. I then went on to be a personal chef for a year to a well-known British celebrity. Can you guess who?
